Frequently Asked Questions

What is Veriplace? What is Here I Am?

Veriplace lets people share their location with the sites and services they trust.

Here I Am is just one such site, built using the SDKs and location APIs freely available at developer.veriplace.com.

We built this site to show off just how many phones can be remotely located using Veriplace, and to give developers an example of how easy it can be to add location to their own sites and services using Veriplace.

What does it cost me?

Here I Am is free to use. Here I Am uses Veriplace to locate your phone, which is also free to use. However, in the course of locating your phone, Veriplace may cause occasional text message or data use. Standard messaging and data charges may apply.

Why do you cap usage of Here I Am?

While this site is free for you to try, it costs us money to operate this site and locate these phones. Since Here I Am exists for demonstration purposes only, we feel it's reasonable to give everyone 3 free locates within a 24 hour period.

If you are interested in how much it costs to locate phones with Veriplace -- and which ones are free to locate, and which ones aren't -- you can learn more at developer.veriplace.com.

Which phones can be located?

As of early 2010, the Veriplace Location Platform can remotely locate AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile phones, as well as many smartphones on North American carriers. We built Here I Am as a free and easy way to test whether Veriplace works for your own phone, so give it a try!

How do I close my account or manage my location permission?

Go to veriplace.com to adjust your settings, to remove Here I Am's access to your location, or to close your Veriplace account altogether.

How was Here I Am made?

It was built using the SDKs and location APIs freely available at developer.veriplace.com.
